The Artistic World of Illustration

Human beings have always shown great affinity towards images. Whether they are in color or monochrome, still or moving, each and every form of image has been a source of our fascination. Even a simple illustration arouses several feelings in our minds like setting up ripples in clear water.  The reasons behind these feelings being aroused in our minds might be the fact that we like to be more inclined towards believing what we see than experiencing it through any of our other senses. This development hasn’t been sudden, but has been one of our inherent qualities since the day we started visualizing the world. As a child, our notions and perceptions were always molded with the help of this illustration. It also helped us to frame in our minds, as to what was the right keyword that could be associated with an image. But, when set free, these illustrations were combined with several other forms that led to the development of Pop Art, which was completely dissimilar to constant stream of Fine Arts.
Pop art is one of the various kinds of illustration that have changed the way we visualize the images. Developed in the decade of 1950’s in Britain and USA, the art was conceptualized by bringing in the informality in the art. Descriptive new forms and patterns were incorporated, that marked a difference in the art. This alteration in the consensus brought in several different changes in the way one used to view, design, draw, or paint a picture. The pop art, however, had several intricacies for the experts, or any other person who had an affinity towards fine arts, to comprehend with. It followed the principle of defining a new theme of dynamicity in to the existing theme of abstract art. Bringing an image out of its real background into a scenario that is completely in contrast to it, or combining the image or a part of it with another item with which it is in complete discord were a few such situations that were introduced by pop art. The inclusion of pop art was mainly done to symbolize an incongruity with the usage of characterless rudiments. The art has mainly been subjugated to the field of advertising, logo designing and comic book illustration amongst others.
Apart from pop art, several other forms of illustrations were also conceptualized and materialized. These forms, like engraving, etching, linocut, intaglio, cartoons, woodcut and several others have been incorporated by several illustrators. The insinuation of technology led to further development in this field with the inclusion of various other fields like graphical illustration, fashion designing amongst others. It was the development, deployment and popularization of different technologies like Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, InkScape, SerifDrawPlus and GIMP amongst others that brought a new revolution in the field of arts and illustration. The growth of these technologies has also brought in new aspects in the development of the art of illustrating our visions as well as introducing several flavors of pop art into it.
